Mockup FAQ

At RXLEX, we bring your fashion visions to life with high-quality mockups tailored to your brand’s identity. Whether you're launching a new clothing line or refining an existing collection, our mockup services provide a clear and professional representation of your designs.

Congratulations on starting your fashion brand! Here’s what you need to know to determine which service best suits your needs. The first step is deciding whether you need a Basic Fashion Mockup or a Custom Fashion Mockup. Please read the descriptions below. Also note, there is a difference in price between basic fashion mockups and custom fashion mockups.

Basic Fashion Mockup

A Basic Fashion Mockup is a clean and minimalistic design, ideal for visualizing foundational pieces in your collection. This option is best suited for those who need a straightforward representation of their apparel without intricate customizations. This type of outfit is what you would call "Basics" in apparel.

  • Simplicity at its Best: No added custom details, ensuring a sleek and professional look.
  • Logo Placement: The only graphic element on the design will be your custom logo, which can be provided by you or designed by RXLEX.
  • Versatile Application: Ideal for T-shirts, hoodies, joggers, dresses, and other staple pieces.
  • Perfect for Previews: Great for showcasing concepts before production or for promotional purposes.

Custom Fashion Mockup (Optional Expanded Service)

For those looking for a more tailored design, our Custom Fashion Mockup service includes additional detailing, graphic elements, fabric textures, and unique features to better align with your creative vision.

  • Enhanced Detailing: Incorporation of custom elements such as patterns, textures, and specialty trims.
  • Brand Identity Integration: Placement of branding details beyond just the logo, including custom labels and tags.
  • Unique Graphic Designs: Option to add original artwork, prints, or motifs that align with your aesthetic.

What is a Specialty Mockup?
Specialty mockups are designs that require more than three unique elements to bring your vision to life. These elements can include details such as embroidered patches, multiple graphic pieces, rhinestones, distressing, texture or other complex design features.

If your mockup includes three or fewer special elements, it will fall under our Custom Mockup category. Any design with over three special elements is considered a Specialty Mockup due to the additional time and detail required.

Do I need a reference image for a mockup?

Yes. To ensure accuracy and deliver the highest quality results, I require a visual reference to begin your 3D mockup. This can be a sketch, digital illustration, photo, or any visual inspiration that reflects the style and structure of the piece you want rendered.

What if I don’t have a reference image?

If you don’t have a finalized reference, there are two options:

  1. If you already have a concept in mind but need help visualizing it – I may be able to assist in developing a custom concept. In this case, you must be able to clearly communicate your idea with as much visual support as possible (inspiration images, fabric references, silhouettes, or a detailed written description). This allows me to understand your vision and determine if we can move forward collaboratively.

  2. If you do not yet have a concept or visual direction – You will need to consult with a sketch artist or fashion designer first. My services are best suited for clients who already know what they want and are ready to see their idea brought to life in a polished 3D mockup. I do not offer concept development from scratch.

Why is this important?

My process is focused on refining and professionally rendering an existing idea—not creating the initial design. Having a clear reference or direction ensures that I can deliver a mockup that aligns with your brand’s vision and meets industry standards.

In summary:

  • A reference image or visual direction is required to begin.

  • I can assist in developing a concept only if you’re able to provide strong visual inspiration.

  • If no concept exists yet, please consult with a sketch artist first.

  • My specialty is transforming your vision into a detailed, high-quality 3D fashion mockup.

At RXLEX, we ensure that every mockup reflects the essence of your brand, allowing you to present your fashion pieces with confidence and professionalism.

The next step is deciding how many outfits you'd like to start with. To clarify, I will provide a quantity visual.

  • A top and bottom together count as one outfit.
  • An accessory is considered one outfit.
  • A single item (e.g., a top or bottom alone) is also one outfit.
  • If you want the same design in different colors, each color variation is considered a separate outfit. For example, if you choose three colors for one design, that counts as three different mockups.
  • If you need both front and back views of an outfit, this will be considered a 360° View.

PLEASE NOTE: The backgrounds shown in mockups are for display purposes only and are not included with your order. Your mockup will be delivered with a clean white background. If you would like a custom display background, you will need to purchase a flyer design as an add-on to your order.

BRAND LOGO: A logo is required for all mockup services unless you specifically choose not to have a logo on the outfit. If you would like your logo name to appear on a clothing tag within the mockup, a logo is also required.

For clothing brands, I highly recommend the Logo + Submark package.

When purchasing a mockup service, you have the option to provide your own logo or purchase a logo design service as an add-on. If you choose to provide your own logo, it must be in the correct format and file type. Logos that do not meet the required specifications cannot be used. In such cases, purchasing a logo design service will be necessary to proceed with the mockup service.

Do I need to provide my own logos or graphics for mockups?
Yes. If you want specific logos, designs, or graphics included on your mockup, you are required to provide those files. These are the same files your manufacturer will need in order to accurately produce your garments.

If you do not already have your design files created and need them professionally made, you must add the "Custom Apparel Design Service (Add-On)" to your order. This includes the creation of any custom elements such as slogans, patches, clothing embellishments, or specific characters to be featured on your apparel.

Please note: mockups only reflect design placement and do not include production-ready files unless the design service is added.

Custom Apparel Design Add-On Policy

This add-on is required only if you do not already have production-ready design files for your apparel mockup.

If you already have your own custom design elements — such as logos, phrases, patchwork, or emblems — they must be submitted in one of the following approved file formats: PDF, SVG, AI, or EPS. In this case, you do not need to purchase the Custom Apparel Design Add-On.

If you do not have these elements prepared in the required formats and need them designed from scratch, this add-on must be included with your order. This ensures each element is created in a format your manufacturer can use for production.

Please note:

  • This add-on does not include a mockup. The apparel mockup is a separate service and must be purchased separately.

  • Work will not begin until all necessary design files are submitted or the required add-on is included in your order.

  • If you are requesting the creation of a new design concept, you must include this add-on in your order to proceed.

This step is critical in preparing your clothing line for professional production. By following these requirements, you help ensure a smooth and efficient design process.
